WHO WE ARE

About LD:NorthEast

We are a local charity supporting people across North Tyneside who have lived experience of learning disabilities, learning difficulties and autism. 

Our work is all about bringing people together. We aim to tackle social isolation and the effects of loneliness by supporting people with three of the basics we feel are important to happiness and well-being. We believe that everyone deserves to have fun, spend time with friends and feel good about themselves and support people to do just that, from birth right through to older life. Our vision is to achieve equality and social inclusion so people can live their life their way. 

How We Support People

Community Outreach

Our Community Outreach service delivers onetoone support, group activities and short breaks that promote independence, social connection and active lifestyles within the community. 

Health and Wellbeing Projects 

Our Health and Wellbeing services support children, adults and families to stay healthy, feel connected and build confidence through early years support, therapeutic activities, sports programmes and tailored health support.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Fun, Friends & Feel Good

Fun

We organise a wide range of activities and events, many of which are free to access and are all about having a good time. This includes taking part in games, sport, dance, music performance, days / nights out, attending events and anything else based on what people tell us they want to do. 

Friends

We help people to develop and maintain friendship groups by organising activities, social groups and informal drop-in support to bring people together. We also help those needing one-to-one support to access their community and take part in everyday tasks and activities. 

Feel Good

We support people with health appointments as well as activities that support positive physical and mental well-being. These include dance classes, music and singing, relaxed art and craft sessions, healthy cooking and eating and sport.
